El Carmen School

The only support they get is what the government pays for the salary of the teachers. Agustina Hermoso Lopez is the nun that manages this very special school which is under the direction of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Hearts. A school like this would normally not survive, but the good lord has bestowed wisdom to the nuns to teach and empower students to help in developing the school. The schools purpose is to teach faith, and happiness. Below are the workshops and the different programs that help support a developing community as well:

The following work shops include Ceramics, Carpentry, Cut & Seam, Workings & Weave, Handiworks, Beauty, Bakery (they sell the bread that is produced).

Technology & Computer science is tought to the Students, Teachers of the Center, & Community (neighbors' associations, Mothers Club) open to all. These are the only computers in the entire town. There is also a nutritional program that provides 430 meals to students that lack the means to a good meal.

There is also a health program with two doctors, a nurse, and pharmacy that offers services to the students, to their parents and the community. The school is a main resource for the entire community thanks to the nuns efforts and the grace of god.

The school has the only library in the whole town, and it is open to the community and especially to the ex-students.
